Electric stimulation is a more modern tool of the acupuncturist. I use two types of electric stimulation, the first is microcurrent stimulation mostly of the points on the ear. I have a device called the Net 2, that can detect the exact point on the ear, the point with the most conductance and least resistance. Then I press another button and seven different frequencies stimulate the point which affects the part of the body represented on the ear. Often there is immediate relief.
There is also a technique where wires are clipped onto the end of acupuncture needles inserted in the body, then the proper waveform, frequency and voltage is chosen. This stimulation is most often used for neurological diseases, including chronic pain, spasm and paralysis.
